This is my last-but-one message before UKLO Round 1, with some last-minute
information and reminders:
If you haven't done so
already, remember to notify Martin (firstname.lastname@example.org)
of your planned entries at Advanced level, and if
possible at other levels, by the end of January 27th.
The week for Round 1 (all
levels) is February 4-8, when you'll have arranged a 2.5 hour slot
for Advanced candidates and a 2-hour slot for
Foundation and Intermediate. (But arrangements for F and I are ultimately
up to you; for example, if you prefer to spread their test across two
lesson slots, that's fine by us.)
I promise to make the files
for test papers available by
on Thursday 31 January. That's when I'll broadcast my very last email,
telling you how to download the material. At that time we'll also make
available a standard spreadsheet for entering candidate details,
including (eventually) marks.
Similarly, I'll send you an
email with the marking scheme for Foundation and Intermediate
papers at 5.00 on Friday 8th.
Please don't let pupils
take any of the question papers away from the test because we have to
maintain confidentiality to protect other national competitions that use
the same material. We will publish the tests papers and the answers, but
not till the end of March; but of course the answers will also be in the
marking scheme for F and I that you'll get straight after the competition.
Sorry about the long wait.
You'll mark your own
Foundation and Intermediate scripts, but we mark the Advanced
ones. You'll have heard from us about the procedure for handling Advanced
scripts (scan -> notify your marker and send the scan -> post the
scripts and an optional envelope to your marker)
